1896: Commenced business in Ulverstone.
Late 1890s: Advertised ‘Watches, Clocks, and Jewellery repaired at moderate prices’ and photography.
January 1899: Relocated business to Main Street, Ulverstone.

March 1900: Moved to Reibey Street opposite the Post Office and advertised clock, watch and jewellery repairs, photography, musical instruments, watches, jewellery, and giftware for sale.
February 1904: Relocated the business to more central premises in Reibey Street.

From approx. 1920: Advertised as a watchmaker and optician and pointed out he was the only registered optician on the coast. The business stocked picture frames, watches, electro-plated ware, jewellery, and pianos. He employed six staff and specialised in repairs.

October 1924: Due to the increase in the optical business, George sold the jewellery side of the enterprise to his employer of eight years, watchmaker and jeweller Ernest J Row.
The photography business was carried on by his son Vincent George Taylor.
