They advertised undertaking repairs themselves, gilding, and plating, all done on the premises. A range of watches, including Rotherham, Ehrhardt, Elgin, Waltham, and Swiss watches and jewellery were available. 1890: Expanded business, adding a branch at Stanley and agent at Penguin. May 1892: Insolvency; the business was wound up by liquidation. John Stoessiger resumed business a few months later in Ulverstone, then Sheffield, before returning to England. Ernest relocated to Launceston. 1896: Watchmaker, 112 Elizabeth Street, Launceston, advertised 15 years of experience in London and Australia. December 1896: Relocated the business to 66 George Street, Launceston. February 1898: Moved to 141 Central Brisbane Street, Launceston. June 1898: Advertised all repairs left at Stoessiger’s, Brisbane Street could be collected from watchmaker Thomas Sharman, 145 Charles Street.
