24 August 1895: The partnership between Frederick and William Stewart, trading as F and W Stewart, was dissolved by mutual consent. William carried on under the same name, and Frederick retired from the firm.

January 1904: F & W Stewart acquired the three-storey building opposite their existing premises. Builders J & T Gunn were hired to undertake renovations. Stewarts advertised in March they would be moving soon to their larger premises.

Harold Stewart, eldest son, was managing F & W Stewart at the time of his father’s death.
