Other	December 1884: Arthur advertised his return to Launceston and opened a watchmaking and jewellery business at Walden’s Building, Elizabeth Street. He advised the public he had six years experience in the best houses in Melbourne.’ September 1886: Relocated business to Charles Street, near Elizabeth Street. Early 1888: Advertisements headed ‘Stephens (late Spotswood),’ Watchmaker, Charles Street, were placed in the newspaper for several months indicating Arthur had purchased Herbert Spotswood’s business. 1892: Arthur sold his business to employee Percy John Field. By the end of the year, Percy advertised business would carry on usual at 152 Charles Street while an auction of A G Stephen’s furniture was held. The Examiner (Launceston) 31 December 1892: ‘A G Stephens, watchmaker and jeweller, wishes to thank his patrons for their support and begs to inform the public that he has sold his book debts and business to Percy J Field, for whom he solicits a continuance of favours. Notice is further given that all accounts owing must be settled or arranged for within one month from date. 152 Charles Street. December 31, 1892.’ Arthur moved to Victoria and, by early 1893, had opened a watchmaking and jewellery business in Kyneton, Victoria.
