Other December 1923: Purchased premises, Post Office Tea Room adjoining the AMP building, Elizabeth Street, Hobart, for £3950. Improvements were undertaken for about £200, so the premises could be utilised as a jeweller’s shop.

Approx. 1920s-1930s: Exhibitor, Arts and Craft Society of Tasmania.

SIGNIFICANT CLOCK:
1931: An entirely hand-made grandfather clock was a featured exhibit at the Arts and Crafts Society’s Exhibition at the Town Hall, Hobart. The clock was the creation of Harold and his father, Francis Sargison. Harold manufactured the clock workings, and his father constructed the case of Queensland maple. The clock was exhibited on other occasions and described as a ‘Wonderful Clock, Tasmanian’s Brilliant Craftsmanship.’

1942: Advertised watch repairs, purchase of old gold and silver, Omega, Cyma, and RJA watches, jewellery, silver, and brassware.
January 1950: Manufactured the Hobart mayoral chain.
Approx. 1960s: Relocated business to 125 Liverpool Street, Hobart.

Maintained Government house clocks for approx. 40 years.
Member: British Horological Institute.
1980: Retired, aged 95.

Some known apprentices/employees: George Bailey, Edgar Hyland, Lloyd Phillips.
1996: Sargisons was purchased by Gavin Cowell and is still located at 125 Liverpool Street, Hobart, in 2022.

ABC News 16 April 2007:
‘Three significant symbols of office made by late Tasmanian jeweller Harold F Sargison have been brought together in one place for the first time. Mr Sargison crafted Hobart’s Lord Mayoral Chains, the Mace used in Tasmania’s House of Assembly and the Monstrance used in benediction services in the Catholic Church St Mary’s Cathedral. The pieces were displayed at Parliament House in Hobart this morning for the benefit of Mr Sargison’s two surviving children, Kathleen Weetman and Susanne Geeves, who had never seen the pieces together.’
