Other	Moved to Ulverstone during primary school years. Met Ken Lee, watchmaker at Ulverstone Municipal Band, where they were both members. Started in the trade with an after-school job with Ken at Lee’s Jewellers, then an apprenticeship. Dennis subcontracted for Lee’s Jewellers for about two years after completing his apprenticeship. He was then employed by Churcher’s Jewellers of Devonport for three years before undertaking a career change. In 2012, Dennis said: ‘When I look back on my watchmaking career, it did help to mould me with some personal characteristics that still are quite apparent. I pride myself on being a problem solver, and irrespective of the task at hand, I demand an accuracy not always required but never less than what I have continued to expect from myself.’
