February 1875: Edward Prescott erected an Admiral Fitzroy Barometer with a thermometer adapted to the southern hemisphere made especially for him in a prominent position for the benefit of the public for reliable temperature and meteorological observations.

December 1875: Sold his business at 52 Murray Street to Mr W Golding (late of Barclays).

1876: Moved back to Melbourne.
Edward’s sons followed in their father’s trade. George partnered in business with John for a time and worked in the trade at various locations in Hobart, and Charles, John, and Frederick worked in Victoria.

Death 10 October 1883, at his residence, High Street, St Kilda, Melbourne, Victoria.
