July 1888: Mr Potter of Liverpool Street faced a court case versus painters Menton and Barnard. The painters claimed non-payment of the balance owed for painting at Potter’s watchmaker’s workshop in Liverpool Street. According to Potter, the painters did not complete the job satisfactorily; he called Mr Menton a scamp, which evoked the Commissioner to state ‘that he could not allow such language in court.’ Following Albert’s death, Sarah Potter advertised continuing the business. 1898: Sarah Potter was recorded under the Watchmaker section in Wises’ Directory and advertised private board and residence at 142 Macquarie Street. |
Death | 12 February 1896, Hobart General Hospital, 39 years old, survived by his wife and four children. Cause of death: Typhoid fever |
