August 1925: The Advocate of 22 August reported the death of Mr Charles Arthur Owen, watchmaker and jeweller of Zeehan, was caused by burn injuries in a recent fire. ‘Arriving in Zeehan 35 years ago, he started his trade in conjunction with Mr Matthews, and after 12 months bought him out.’

Charles was survived by his son Charles junior, an optician in Western Australia, and two daughters in Melbourne; his wife Ann predeceased him in December 1918.
