Other | Mid 1850s: Albert’s father Daniel and uncle Albert Oliver started business as watchmakers and jewellers at Ballarat East. His grandfather, also Daniel Oliver, was a watch and clockmaker and silversmith in Somerset, England.
Mid-1880s: Employer, Martha Allen, Launceston. 1886: Business partnership with Frank Marriott, Latrobe. A second store was opened at Sheffield in May 1887. August 1887: Partnership was dissolved and the business sold to F & W Stewart, Launceston. From late 1887: Advertised business at Sheffield and announced new premises were under construction. By 1891: Moved back to Victoria and worked in his trade in Melbourne, Ballarat, and Bacchus Marsh. |
