In December 1992, Graham Mulligan established Clockwise, a clock and watch repair business, after completing the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) course. He started in a single garage at his home for 12 months, and the following nine months, from a room at the rear of Granny’s Antiques in St John Street. Clockwise spent the next decade in Elizabeth Street. Growth in business and the need for more space saw Clockwise move back to St John Street to premises formerly occupied by antique dealer and friend Russell Venn. After eight and a half years, Clockwise moved to York Street in March 2013. In August 2019, the retail side of the business closed, and Graham and Sallie relocated to a large workshop in Thistle Street West, South Launceston, to focus more on repairs. In 2020, the challenges of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic resulted in launching a new website to reintroduce sales. Graham Mulligan is self-educated and skilled in manufacturing no longer available parts. He was responsible for the upkeep of the Launceston Town Clock from about 2005 to June 2024, when the old movement was decommissioned and replaced with a modern electric movement. Launceston Town Clock: Major overhaul and service (2008). Hand-built clocks: Graham has manufactured several unique Tasmanian handmade clocks, one featured in the British Horological Journal in 2010.
