Advertised watches and jewellery for sale and ‘repairs neatly executed.’
By the end of July 1853, watchmaker Thomas Hughes was operating business in former premises of Henry Mitchell in Elizabeth Street.

April 1854: Henry, Maria, and family departed Launceston and returned to England despite the requirement to remain in the colony under conditions of their pardons. Records in England show the family returned to using Henry’s original surname of Evans. The females in the family used their middle names as first names.
1856: A daughter was born to Henry and Maria at Greenwich (Henry’s occupation – licensed victualler).
England Census 1861, 1871, 1891: Residence: Surrey, Maria’s (Isabella) place of origin.

Henry returned to clock and watchmaking, and his Launceston-born son, Samuel, followed in his father’s trade.
1901 England Census: Henry, 83-year-old watchmaker and employer, was recorded as working at home with Charles Henry Evans, a watchmaker and his 25-year-old grandson.
