By 1840: Relocated to Melbourne, Victoria, where John Hoffman died on 13 May 1840, aged 20. Approx. late 1840: Moved to Portland, Victoria. February 1843: Dissolution of partnership with George Dale, Commercial Inn, Portland. Approx. May 1843 – August 1845: January 1846: Departed Hobart for London, England. 1851 Census: Recorded as a clockmaker in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, with his younger brother Henry, also a clockmaker. Mid 1850s: Watchmaker, Rundle Street, Adelaide, South Australia. Henry Lickert also relocated to Adelaide with his wife, Elizabeth. He also worked in the trade in Rundle Street, so the brothers were most likely working together. |
