Following William’s death, his wife, Mary Ann King, announced the successful business run by her husband would continue under her supervision. William and Mary’s daughter Alice was an army nurse with the Australian Imperial Force. She served full-time in Egypt, England, France, and Belgium, working in theatre wards. Charles Stanley King, the only surviving son of William and Mary, was a Rhodes Scholar and served in the King Edward’s Horse and Royal Field Artillery in France in 1914. |
