July 1840: A robbery occurred at George’s business; stolen items included thirty-six watches. 1841: Recorded in list of importers, South Australia. 1842: Recorded in list of unclaimed letters, General Post Office, Adelaide 1844: Worked for watchmaker William Cole, Liverpool Street, Hobart The Austral-Asiatic Review, Tasmanian & Australia Advertiser 10 August 1844. ‘If George Ramsay Garrow, Watchmaker, at Mr Cole’s, Liverpool Street, does not take away several articles of his left in my possession, they will be sold within 14 days from this notice, to defray the expenses due for board & lodging.
