Arrival 1955: Emigrated to Australia with his parents and sister Christine.
Other 1970: Moved to New Guinea, established a watchmaking business in Market Street, Rabaul, and undertook repairs Seiko Papua New Guinea agents, Chin Hoi Meen. Allan was also the agent for Breitling and Orfina wrist watches. He was affectionately known as Tick Tock by the indigenous population.

1977: Returned to Tasmania, set up a boutique store in Devonport (Fay’s Timepieces) and specialised exclusively in clocks and watches. The business expanded into Fay’s Jewellers.

2021: Two of Allan and Margaret’s children, Stirling and Andrina, owned the business.
