Other | April 1974: Commenced in the trade while still at school. 1979: Six weeks scholarship at Longines, Saint-Imier, Switzerland. 1981: Moved from Manly to Richmond, New South Wales, and established watch and clock repair business, Timely Innovations. Later moved to Winmalee, Blue Mountains, and purchased a retail business, formerly Hawkins Jewellers, 242 Macquarie Road, Springwood. 2000: Daughter Tegan commenced a four-year indentured apprenticeship with the business and attended the watchmaking course at Ultimo Technical and Further Education (TAFE), Sydney. 2014: Closed business at Springwood, relocated to Kettering, Tasmania and concentrated on high-quality repairing. January 2018: Restored the Thwaites and Reed turret clock at Government House, Hobart. Russell also undertakes maintenance of the 1828 Thwaites and Reed turret clock, St John’s Church Newtown, and the Snug Primary School’s electric tower clock. August 2018: Moved to a 42-acre farm in the Huon Valley farm, continuing to repair clocks and watches. |
