Other | Approx. 1887-1897: Employer, Martha Allen. Foster continued to manage Martha’s business for a few months following her death in October 1896. February 1897: Opened his own firm, 109 St John Street, advertised late of M Allen (ten years). Approx. 1910: Employee, Douglas Eastburn. Approx. 1923-4: Relocated the business to a new building at 101 St John Street. Foster was a foundation member of the local Watchmakers and Jewellers Association. Other members included J. D. Coulter, J. S. Kerr, S. Napper, and F. Stewart. Following Foster’s death in August 1925, repair work was available for collection from Mr D Eastburn, Watchmaker and Jeweller, George Street, Launceston. By February 1926, Robert H Watson, watchmaker and jeweller formerly of Eastburn and Co., occupied the premises at 101 St John Street. Foster Coulson’s widow advertised his complete set of watchmaker’s tools for sale in February 1929 before relocating to New South Wales. |
