February 1920: Advertised the business for sale but by April 1920, advised she would continue in business and had employed a first-class workman. January 1923: Advertised all goods left for repair for over three months and not claimed before January 31 will be sold. Alice returned to Victoria where she ran a drapery business with her sisters. January 1924: Alice retained ownership of the business premises in Sheffield. It was destroyed by fire, and jeweller Mr G M Bean lost all his stock and home at the back of the building. The fire was reported as the most devastating in the history of Sheffield. |
